Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations calls on all member states to stand against the United States' systematic abuse of the Security Council to legitimize its aggression against the Islamic Republic and the peoples of the region.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations has issued a formal communication to all 193 member states of the United Nations, calling on them to stand against the United States' systematic abuse of the Security Council to legitimize its military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani declared: 'The United States uses its veto power as a weapon. It shields itself and its Zionist client from accountability while using the Security Council to sanction, isolate, and attack nations that dare to resist American hegemony. This must end. The United Nations was not created to serve American imperialism.'
Iran calls on all member states — particularly the non-aligned nations, the Global South, and all nations that have suffered under American sanctions and military aggression — to co-sponsor a General Assembly resolution condemning the US naval blockade as a violation of international law.
The US-imposed sanctions on Iran, combined with the naval blockade, constitute collective punishment against 90 million Iranians — a crime under international humanitarian law. The international community's silence makes it complicit.
Ambassador Iravani addressed the new US sanctions targeting Iranian missile networks: 'These sanctions are designed to prevent Iran from defending itself. They target our right of self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. We reject them in their entirety and call on all nations to refuse to enforce them.'
The Islamic Republic is confident that history will judge correctly: Iran stands for sovereignty, justice, and the rights of nations. America stands for hegemony, exploitation, and the law of the jungle. The world is choosing sides. Choose wisely.
